We mourn the loss and Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Betty Jean Washington 73, of Shreveport, La.
Betty Jean was born October 19, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Robert and Ola Mae Washington. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Shady Grove #1 Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended Union Street High School and retired from Virginia Hall Nursing Home after 27 years.
Betty was a devoted mother and daughter and had a great love for all her nieces and nephews. A Mother's Pride was always evident whenever she spoke of her daughter, Michelle, and son, Joshton, she always beamed with joy. Her children were her greatest accomplishment and she loved them more than life. After retirement, Betty became the caregiver for her mother. Her devotion to her mother was another area of satisfaction she took very serious and she never left her mother's side.
Betty was not only a caregiver to her family, but to many others she was known for her random acts of kindness. She loved to cook and had a kind heart. Wherever she saw a need, Betty was there to help and provide whatever she could.
After a short illness, Betty went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2017. Betty slipped into eternity just the way she lived her life, on her on terms.
She was met and welcomed home by her Father, Robert Washington, Brother, Edd Washington and Grandmother, Willie Mae Grant. She leaves to cherish her memory until they meet again in heaven, her Mother, Ola Mae Washington, two children, Michelle Washington and Joshton Washington, one aunt, Bobbie Walpool (Eddie), six brothers, Robert Lee Washington (Hattie Mae), L C Washington (Patricia), Lugene Washington (Cynthia), Roosevelt Washington (Yvonne), Gregory Washington, and Ronnie Washington (Janice), three sisters, Mary Lewis, Wanda Maiden (Henry Lee) and Elizabeth Jackson (Thomas), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and special friends.
Please keep the Washington Family lifted in your prayers.
