Annie Lou volunteered in Summer childcare programs and as a Foster Grandparent throughout the school year in Caddo Parish for over 13 years. She received several awards for her service to the community. Notably, she received the President's Call to Service Award and Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush; however, the most rewarding gratitude came from the love she received from her foster grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Louisiana, Esther Chapter.
Annie Lou finished her race and went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2019 at the age of 96. She is preceded in death by her parents: Dudley and Annie Anderson Tyler; her Step-Mother: Mamie Collins Tyler; two brothers: Thurman Tyler and Carven Tyler; one sister: Mary Easter Tyler. She will be remembered for her generosity and love of life. Annie Lou was known for her love of cooking, fishing, working word-search puzzles, hosting awesome parties, laughter and fun. Everyone who knew her, knew she meant what she said, she didn't like to be late and she read her Bible every day. She will be sorely missed. She has fought a good fight, she has finished her course, and she has kept the Faith. Now, receive your crown and inheritance, Annie Lou Johnson, which the Lord has for you (2 Timothy 4:7).
